The growth of high-end tourism in Punta del Este has, in recent years, driven closer integration between premium hospitality and business aviation. A notable example of this trend is the exclusive Fasano Las Piedras Hotel, which features its own private aerodrome within the resort complex, allowing guests to arrive directly by air.

Since its inauguration in 2010, the resort has established itself as one of the most exclusive destinations in eastern Uruguay, welcoming high-profile visitors primarily from Argentina, Brazil and the United States. In this context, private air connectivity has become a key factor in facilitating fast and discreet access to the property.

The hotel’s aerodrome was authorised by the National Directorate of Civil Aviation and Aeronautical Infrastructure (DINACIA) and is located within a property of approximately 480 hectares, which includes various recreational and service facilities such as an 18-hole golf course, a polo field and an equestrian centre.

The runway is oriented 05/23 and measures 1,260 metres in length by 18 metres in width, dimensions that allow operations by light and medium business jets, as well as helicopters of various categories. The first recorded air operation at the facility took place on 25 December 2021, when an Embraer Phenom 300 landed arriving from Brazil.

From an operational perspective, the aerodrome lies within the traffic area of El Jagüel Departmental Aerodrome (SUPE), located just a few nautical miles to the south, and relatively close to Capitán de Corbeta Carlos A. Curbelo International Airport (SULS), the main aerial gateway to Punta del Este.

Operations at the Fasano Hotel aerodrome are conducted under daytime Visual Flight Rules (VFR), with operational and air traffic coordination managed by the control tower at Punta del Este International Airport. During the summer season, the region’s airspace experiences a high level of activity due to the combination of commercial flights, business aviation traffic, gliding operations from the San Carlos Gliding Club and parachuting activities in nearby areas.

In this environment, operational planning and proper coordination between operators, authorities and aeronautical service providers are essential to ensure the safety and efficiency of each flight operation.

From a trip support perspective, Aerowise has extensive expertise in the logistical coordination of business aviation flights operating in the Punta del Este region, assisting operators and crews with flight planning, permit management, coordination with nearby airports and the organisation of ground services.

The development of infrastructure such as the aerodrome at Fasano Las Piedras reflects a growing trend in international tourism: the integration of world-class experiences with direct air accessibility. Projects of this nature not only raise the standard of premium tourism in Uruguay, but also reinforce the role of business aviation as a key tool for the mobility of high-profile travellers visiting exclusive destinations across the Southern Cone.
